Jake's Journal Spring?
Entry on: Apr. 01, 2004, at 03:57 am

It was just last week that I was (for the umpteenth week in a row) climbing up St. Johannasgatan in the ice/slush that has covered Uppsala for months, freezing in the -5c weather, feeling my fingers and toes freeze solid. Just a few days ago I watched as the snow came down, covering the streets and roofs again with a fluffy white blanket of powder. Just 3 days ago when the sun came out in the afternoon, and warmed everying up, and just 2 days ago when the banks of the river were lined with people, eating ice cream, basking in the sun, and filling up every available sitting spot to enjoy the fresh Spring weather.

Even though the weather was only on the order of +5/+10 degrees this morning (not even mid 70's), it was enough for me to spot people sitting outside cafes everywhere eating ice cream and stripping down to t-shirts. Absolutely incredible.

The last few weeks have been incredibly active. Starting with mid-march, there was the KMK Sexa, Stadsexa, KT came, Kropkaka Gasque, Andy came, St. Patrick's day at GH, a party at Stockholms, KT and Andy left, two great Elevations, another Stockholms party, Slepps at Gotaborgs and VG, Numerous sexas at Kalmar, Landscop, and English folk music tonight. Tomorrow is Pea Soup in Frack at Snerkes, Friday is Stones Pre-Party, Saturday is Norrlands-whole house-Svenska Music Fest (stones+beat on the brat), and they just keep on coming.

I've decided to stop taking classes here in Sweden for the 4th quarter, and instead focus all my time on learning swedish, learning to cook, and continuing to make friends for life. My big plan goes into action tomorrow, when I will start speaking Swedish with most of the members of the Klubverk. Other big plans are afoot, too- ones that will be revealed in due time, and excite the hell out of me. And I'm planning on going to Tallinn in two weeks, which will be jette-kul.

Okay I'm rambling now.

Not three months time now will see me back in Tucson, basking in the 40+c weather, spending tons of time with friends and family, and probably seriously wanting to fly right back to sweden- but there are scores of days until then, so I'll take it as it comes.

Hej då!
